HOW TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR UNDERARMS

Whether you’re a wash-and-wear type of girl or someone who likes to spend time perfecting a winged eye, you probably have a few habits you like to do everyday. But while hair, face, and nails are usually top priority, many miss out on caring for one important area – their underarms/armpit.

About 70% of girls prefer shaving over other hair removal methods, and with convenience, affordability, and low pain level on its side, it’s not difficult to see why. The problem is, shaving to achieve smooth skin is actually counter productive.

While shaving, your underarms will get rid of unwanted hair, it is also one major reason behind skin darkening and bumps. You may not notice it, but every time you reach out for that razor, about a third of what you shave off is underarm skin. Frequent and repetitive shaving leads to irritation, dryness, redness. Eventually bumps develop, and skin darkening occurs.

If you need to shave, your underarms will need a little extra Tender Loving Care. Here's a simple guide.

Treat sensitive skin right
The underarm area is very sensitive because its skin is relatively thin and does not get as much sunlight as the rest of your body. When a part of that already thin layer is removed due to shaving, the area becomes even more sensitive, and sometimes causes redness, itching, and stinging.

To avoid irritation, always use a mild soap or cleanser with moisturizing properties when showering.

Friction from a razor also aggravates sensitivity and causes darkness, but you can make shaving easier and quicker by applying some shaving gel, cream, or foam first. This will soften the hair and give the blades a smoother glide.

A beauty routine for your underarms
If you don’t know what type of pampering you should give your underarms, take inspiration from your facial routine: just cleanse and moisturize.

Cleanse
Before anything else, properly cleansing your underarm area is very important. Do this by using a mild but hardworking anti-bacterial soap or cleanser. Every so often, you may want to use an exfoliating cleanser to get rid of the dead skin that causes darkening. Keep in mind though, that less is more because too much scrubbing can lead to discoloration as well. Make sure to pat the area dry with a towel.

Moisturize
Hydration has immense benefits for your health. It can also help your underarms a huge deal. Counter dryness by moisturizing your underarms with a body lotion. To save you a step, you can also use a deodorant with moisturizing properties.

But if you’re looking to whiten your underarms further, use a gentle moisturizing deodorant to prevent further darkening.

The next time you find yourself overlooking your underarms again, remember that a regimen focused on it is just as important as your weekly mani-pedi or monthly hair do. Adding a few extra steps to your daily routine won’t only give you smoother underarms, but will also provide that extra boost of confidence you get from a good pampering.

How To Perfectly Create An Awesome Ombre Lips

Ombré lips is one of the current biggest makeup trends. Who wouldn’t want to try this two-toned trend? Ombré lips are beautiful to the point of mesmerizing, and they add an eye-catching twist to an area of your makeup where you don’t always have much room to experiment.

If you want to try the ombré lip trend but aren’t sure where to start, keep reading to learn how to easily create an ombré lips  without frustration.
1. Choose Colors Right

It is very important to choose your colors carefully when it comes to ombré lips. No matter whether you’re going for a bold look or a softer, more subtle finish, you want to make sure that the shades of lipstick that you use are complementary and blend well together.

2. Take Advantage of Tools

You might be used to getting by just using the bullet of your lipstick to apply product to your lips every morning. Because ombré lips are more complex, however, they require more tools to pull off successfully.

Be sure that you have a tiny angled brush and a small rounded brush on hand before you attempt to apply ombré lips. You’ll need the angled brush to create defined, precise lines around your lips and the rounded brush to blend the multiple shades of lipstick together.

3. Try Something Subtle

If you want to try the ombré lip trend but are too afraid to slap purple and bright pink lipstick on at the same time, there’s no need to worry. Just choose a more subtle version of the two-toned look by picking two shades of lipstick that are very similar to each other. Make sure that one is just two to three shades darker or lighter than the other.

Using these similar colors will create a subtle ombré look that adds interest to your lips without stealing the show.

4. Apply to the Right Places

The primary philosophy behind traditional ombré lips is that you are creating a gradient of color. You generally want to apply the darker shade of lipstick around the outer edges of your lips and keep the lighter shade around the inner center of your lips to create this gradient.

However, you can always play around with switching up the gradient and going from light-to-dark if you so desire.

5. Press Your Lips Together

An easy trick for achieving the perfect ombré lip look effortlessly is to press your lips together. Start by applying the darker shade of lipstick you want to use all over your lips; keep the application lighter near the center of your lips.

Then, apply the lighter shade of lipstick around the inside of just one of your lips. Press your lips together, and voila! You’ll achieve a flawless ombré lip look that requires minimal blending for a perfect finish.

6. Use Lip Liner

Instead of using two different shades of lipstick, you can also use a darker shade of lip liner instead. Line your lips with a lip liner that is at least two shades darker than your lipstick color; make the line thicker than you normally would. Then, fill your lips in with the lighter shade of lipstick, blend outward, and you’re done.

7. Apply Concealer

After you finish creating your ombré lip look, always apply concealer around the outer edges of your lips. This finishing touch helps clean up your look and ensure a smooth, tidy finish.

Ombré lips look like they require a ton of skill, but they’re actually pretty easy to rock. Use the tips in this post to learn how to pull off ombré lips successfully without looking like you accidentally applied two different shades of lipstick in an early morning daze.

And here is the ombre lips tutorial from dailyfrezz!

Why Your Makeup Doesn't Look Good Enough

You're Not Taking Good Care Of Your Skin

A great makeup look begins with good skin, so make sure you're looking after yours. Develop a cleansing regime and stick to it, and if you find you're having trouble with acne, rosacea, or any other skin condition, don't be afraid to visit a doctor or dermatologist for advice. There's no need to suffer in silence.

Then, prep your skin before you begin applying makeup. Ideally, you should moisturise a few minutes before applying makeup, giving your moisturiser time to sink in. Moisturised skin will hold product better, without dry, flaky patches. If you have oily skin, don't skip this step, just use a light, oil-free moisturiser.

Also, consider a primer. They may seem like an unnecessary extra step, but not only can they target specific skin concerns (like excess oil or redness), but they also create a perfectly smooth base for makeup and help extend staying power. Eye primers have a tint and work like a foundation on the eyes so colours appear brighter and more even, brilliant if you're using a bright or light colour.

You're Using the Wrong Colours

We've all succumbed to trends that don't suit us, and this extends to makeup. But not every colour suits every skin tone. One person's perfect red lipstick may wash out the next person to try it.

Finding out your skin's undertone is the first step to choosing colours to suit. If you're a lucky neutral, you may be able to pull off most things, but the rest of us will need to adapt. That doesn't mean you shouldn't experiment, but don't wear something you know washes you out just because it's popular.

Expired Cosmetics

The expiration date on your cosmetics isn't just there to con you into buying more makeup. Though some products may last longer than advertised (usually powders), in general makeup expiration dates are worth paying attention to, especially when it comes to liquids that go around the sensitive eye area. We're talking about  mascara! An old mascara tube is not only a breeding ground for germs but it's also more likely to clump and flake. As soon as you open that tube, the product inside starts to lose moisture. Remember how lovely it feels to open a fresh mascara and glide on the smooth liquid formula? You owe yourself that treat. If your mascara isn't finished after three months, bin it and buy a new one.

You're Using the Wrong Tools

If you are still using the sponge applicators that you sometimes get in eye shadow palettes, do yourself a favour and throw them away. They make applying makeup harder, not easier. Why brands continue to produce these is a mystery when anyone who's stumbled across a YouTube tutorial knows that makeup brushes are the key to a better result.

You're Forgetting About the Details

When we first experiment with makeup as teenagers, we probably reached for eye makeup and lipstick first. And those probably remained the main constituents of a look for most of us ever since. But when you want a more pulled-together look (especially for big occasions like weddings and parties), the real key to a polished look is what I call the "three Bs": base, blusher, and brows.

Firstly we have base, and by this I really mean any combination of primer, foundation, powder, and/or concealer depending on your preference. Not everyone likes or needs a full face of foundation, but creating a good base for the rest of your makeup is key to a good result. Even if you just slick some primer on your eyelids, you'll benefit from it!

Then comes blusher, the most maligned makeup item by newbies, but one of the best. Trust me when I say that even if you think you don't need blusher, you do. It's a miracle worker and makes you look younger, more awake, and more polished.

Finally, brows. Good brows have the ability to completely shape the face, and with the current trend for big and bold brows in full swing. Start as you mean to go on by visiting a salon for a shape and tint  and pick up a pencil, powder, or pomade to help fill in gaps and shape your brows. You'll be blown away with what a power brow will do to your finished face. Embrace it!

You're Using the Wrong Formulas

Lip colour doesn't have to come in a stick, eye colour doesn't have to be a powder, and most base products, blushers, and bronzers come in a huge number of different formulas. So how do you know which one to pick?

In general, powders are more drying and mattifying and work better on oilier skin, while liquids and creams can help hydrate dry skin. Bear this in mind when picking foundation in particular.

But it's about the final result, too. Powders (especially things like eye shadow and blusher) allow you to gently blend and build up colour with precision. Cream formulas tend to give a more youthful, dewy effect (which is why a slightly shimmery cream eye shadow is a must for older skins). They don't require exact application, making them good for beginners, and often look best applied with the fingers, which is good news if your budget doesn't reach to 15 new brushes.

Gels and pomades are often the hardest to work with, but they also give the most long-lasting results. If you can master gel liner and brow pomade, you can re-create those picture-perfect Instagram makeup looks yourself. Until you do, soft pencils are a little more forgiving.

How To Make Your Own Makeup Remover Wipes Using Paper Towels, Water, & Oil (DIY)

The worst thing about makeup has always been taking it off. It's always that one last thing you have to do before you go to bed, and if you don't, you instantly regret it when you wake up. When you're tired, makeup removing wipes are a godsend because they're so quick.

That convenience comes with a big price tag, but you can make your own wipes a lot cheaper, with the added benefit of using products you already love. They're super easy to make and customize for your skin type, and only require a few materials.

The wipes themselves are just regular paper towels cut in half. The solution is part oil, part cleanser, and some water. Oil is a natural makeup remover, and the one used most commonly is coconut oil, but you can use olive, castor, or another oil if you prefer.

To make the solution, start with about two cups of purified water and add one to two tablespoons of oil. You can include a few squirts of your favorite cleanser if you want, but it's not necessary. Warm the solution in the microwave or a saucepan just long enough to melt the oil if it's solid.

Now, cut your roll of paper towels in half, if its a large roll, place it in a container with an airtight lid, and pour the solution over the towels. After soaking for a few minutes, the cardboard tube should be easy to remove.

The wipes will keep anywhere from a few days to a few weeks depending on the climate and the container you keep them in. To keep bacteria away and prevent them from molding, you can add a few drops of tea tree oil to the solution before pouring it on the wipes.

Have you ever made your own makeup remover wipes? Share your experience (and recipe) in the comments.

COCONUT OIL AS A FACIAL CLEANSER

These days, it has become so typical to walk into a private bathroom and find loads of skincare products from all four corners of the toilet down to the floor. It’s even more amazing to know that one person can use this much product on their skin – all promising the same things: defy aging, smoother skin, brighter complexion, less visible wrinkles. Yet, people are more and more beset by a whole menu of skin issues.

This is the reason why skincare is getting a taste of its own back-to-natural revolution and coconut oil certainly has earned a place in the midst of it all.

SKIN BENEFITS OF COCONUT OIL
Heated coconut oil when used for cooking has such a pleasant smell that fills up not just your nostrils but all of your senses – it’s calming and relaxing. Unsurprisingly, coconut oil has become a staple component of almost any type of skincare product, often added in as Capric / Caprylic /Lauric acid which functions as an emollient or skin conditioning agent.

Other than its obvious deep skin moisturizing properties, coconut oil also delivers the following skin benefits:

Skin Benefits of Coconut Oil
has natural anti-fungal and antibacterial properties that helps treat various skin infections, including acne and other skin blemishes
loaded with antioxidants that help protect skin from the cell damaging effects of free radicals
easily assimilated by the skin and made useful for skin healing, treating and maintenance purposes
pH balanced
contains very high levels of Vitamin E which does good in protecting the skin and keeping it moisturized 24/7
has high amino acid content that supports better skin synthesis and more rapid tissue repair.
Coconut oil is most especially common as an ingredient in lip balms, anti-aging moisturizers, makeup removers and hair conditioners. More recently, coconut oil’s use as a facial cleanser has been steadily gaining popularity.

WHY USE COCONUT OIL AS FACIAL CLEANSER?
The use of coconut oil as a facial cleanser can be traced back to the growing following and acceptance of the oil cleansing method, the philosophy behind which is simple: like attracts like. In facial cleansing terms, this means that the correct way to remove excess oil from skin is to use oil to strip it away. Sounds crazy, huh? But, many people have tried the oil method using various essential oils, and coconut oil is a favorite, and swear by the favorable results.

Make Coconut Oil Facial Cleanser
The oil method contests how most facial cleansing products from facial wash to toners to exfoliants have been purposely targeting to decrease the amount of oil in the skin, to dry acne and blemishes so that skin can be free from infections and irritations. Truth is, according to this method, all these products are doing is further irritating the skin, and sending the wrong signal to skin cells that tell them to produce more oil to compensate for the lost natural oils as a result of the drying effect of these products.

The oil method takes this reasoning further, claiming that oil is not the culprit but hygiene is. Using oil to strip dirty oil is a more viable way, it says, of cleansing the skin.

HOW TO MAKE COCONUT OIL FACIAL CLEANSER?
So, if you’re eager enough to try this new skin cleansing philosophy or at least, you’re ready to dare yourself to find out the sleeky proof, below are some ways you can try the oil cleansing method with coconut oil.

Method 1: Straightforward use. Rinse face with lukewarm water. Take about a teaspoon of coconut oil. Massage for at least 5 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water to remove the grime. Finish with cold water to close your pores.

Method 2: Warm cloth mask method. Take an extra virgin or virgin coconut oil, a soft wash cloth, and 2 small bins filled with lukewarm water. Rinse face with lukewarm water. Pat your face dry. Take a tablespoon or two of the coconut oil and apply on your face with a circular, massaging motion. Once the entire facial area is covered, take your wash cloth and dip it into the lukewarm water. Take out excess water from the wash cloth then spread flat on your face. This will produce steam which will soften the excess oil and dirt trapped in your pores and simultaneously help skin better absorb the coconut oil. Leave on for about 5 minutes. Wipe your face gently with the wash cloth. Rinse face with lukewarm water. End with cold, tap water.

Method 3: Anti-acne coconut oil cleanser. In a jigger glass, fill about a third of the glass with coconut oil and add in a teaspoon of baking soda. Mix just enough to cover all the baking soda in oil. Apply on face thoroughly cleansed with lukewarm water. Leave on for about 5 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water. End with cold water. Baking soda is an effective way to balance the skin’s pH level and get acne under control.

Using coconut oil as a skin cleanser certainly has a promising claim to it. Skincare regimens, however, result to different things among different people and it certainly takes a little bit of curiosity and a dash of courage to brave this oily recommendation.

Must Have Beauty Products For Every Woman

Primer

Primer is an absolute must for every makeup bag. Primers create the perfect canvas for makeup to last all day, while helping skin retain moisture, feel softer and look smoother. It creates a beautiful, even surface to allow foundation to glide onto skin and not sink into pores.

Eyeliner

A black liner on the top lash line will create the illusion of fuller, thicker lashes.

Mascara

Mascara is a must have. It will define your lashes and open up your eyes.

Moisturizer

Whether you have oil-prone or dry skin, all women must moisturize. Most women apply moisturizer in the morning and think it's enough to last the day. But the skin needs constant hydration. A moisturizer can keep your skin dewy and refreshed the whole day.

Blush

Always, always have blush! A soft pink blush flatters all skin tones and adds a soft, youthful flush of color to brighten your look.

Concealer

Concealer is a versatile product can be used to camouflage under-eye circles, hide dark spots and imperfections, and often, the best concealers can even be used as a foundation or in place of foundation.

Multi - tasking Foundation

Foundation is crucial to every makeup wardrobe. I often alternate between a powder and liquid foundation. Sometimes a girl needs to change her foundation during the year depending on the seasons and her changing skin needs.

Lipstick

If you find yourself in a morning rush, apply lipstick and sunglasses, off go!

Brush

You don't need a ton of tools, you just need the right tools. A versatile brush that can be used for all powders such as bronzers, highlighters and finishing powders is a great investment.
