Healthy Tips For A Healthy And Satisfied Relationship

The following tips can help you and your partner create and maintain a healthy relationship

GOOD COMMUNICATION

Communication is key. It is one of the most important qualities in a healthy relationship. However, not everyone knows how to communicate properly or even communicate at all.  They also discuss the bad instead of sweeping issues under the rug. In order to move forward and grow, you need to be able to truly talk about your feelings. No matter how awkward or uncomfortable it feels, it will make for a long-lasting and fulfilling relationship.

YOU TREAT EACH OTHER WITH KINDNESS

Nothing is more important than treating the person you love with care, consideration, empathy, and appreciation. If you find yourself showing more respect to people you hardly know than you show your partner, take a step back and revisit your priorities.

YOU NEED YOUR  SPACE

Just because you are in love doesn’t mean you have to spend every moment together. Taking time to pursue your own interests and friendships keeps your relationship fresh and gives you both the opportunity to grow as individuals, while growing as a couple.

YOUR RELATIONSHIP IS YOUR HAVEN

Your relationship should be a safety net, a stable place to come home to at the end of the day. That doesn’t mean you don’t fight, it just means that when things are hard, you would rather see your partner than commiserate with coworkers.

YOU SAY THE MAJIC WORDS

"I love you", "Thank you", and “I’m sorry”.

SUPPORT AND TRUST

Both sides need to be willing to listen, but also must give what the other needs, whether that's empathy, love, a pep talk or even a harsh truth. This support builds trust; both parties are more willing to open themselves up to the relationship because they feel safe. This trust helps you to value your partner as an individual, rather than as an extension of your own life.

RESPECT

It is difficult to have a healthy relationship without mutual respect. Trust as mentioned above and respect are two of the most important elements of a healthy relationship. Respect requires listening to your partner, refraining from yelling and name-calling, and treating your partner in a manner in which you would like to be treated. It is also essential to act in ways that warrant respect from your partner, says author Hara Estroff Marano, writing for Psychology Today.
